Bonhams: Pop Culture Then & Now Auction

Bonhams has started bidding in their latest online only auction of Pop Culture Memorabilia. The auction has 189 lots with bidding open until December 15, 2023. One of the highlights is the amazing and beloved bike used in Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985).

Used during production by Paul Reubens in character as Pee-Wee Herman, the bike is the centerpiece of the off-beat adventure directed by Tim Burton The theft of Pee-Wee’s treasured bike sets the whole story in motion and results in madcap escapades to retrieve it leading him across the country and headlong into all kinds of troubles and triumphs. Estimated to sell between $12,000 – 15,000, the bike, also used in advertising material, is a glossy red and white with a metal thumb bell, red and green button “escape console”, a figural tiger siren, and handlebar tassel streamers.
