ScreenBid Mad Men Anniversary Auction
LOS ANGELES, May 22, 2016 — After seven groundbreaking seasons and 92 episodes, Mad Men ended its Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winning run on AMC in the spring of 2015. To commemorate the one year anniversary of the series finale, beginning on June 1, fans of Mad Men will have the opportunity to take home a part of the show when leading Hollywood collectibles auction site ScreenBid presents an exclusive online auction of more than 1,500 production-used props, wardrobe items, set decorations and other vintage and mid-century memorabilia from the Lionsgate-produced series.
To create lots with maximum style and historic value, ScreenBid engaged Mad Men’s award-winning property master Ellen Freund to curate the sale. Dozens of items in the auction were featured in the “Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men” exhibit at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image (MOMI) in 2015, and at Modernism Week 2016 in Palm Springs.
“Every item that appeared on Mad Men was chosen with painstaking care to be both historically accurate for the time period and to help tell the characters’ stories through the objects around them,” said Freund. “With this auction, it’s exciting to give fans a chance to take home a piece of American and television history.”
Mad Men, which followed the professional and personal lives of Madison Avenue advertising men and women during the 1960s, is one of the most honored series in television history, acclaimed for its brilliantly drawn characters and its historical authenticity in costume and design. The series has won dozens of awards, including three Golden Globes® for Best Drama and four Emmys® for Outstanding Drama Series, tying the all-time record for Emmy® wins in the category.
Mad Men auction items will be available for bidding on ScreenBid on Wednesday, June 1. Lots will begin closing on Monday, June 13 and conclude on Wednesday, June 15. Hundreds of items will close on Monday, June 13 so they can be shipped to arrive in time for Father’s Day.
