Prop Store – one of the world’s leading film and TV memorabilia companies – has announced results from it’s November 2019 cinema poster auction, with posters on offer fetching in excess of £227,500 ($290,747).
Notable sales included (sale prices are inclusive of buyer’s premium):
JAMES BOND: FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963) – UK Quad Poster sold for £6,875 ($8,767)
THUNDERBALL (1965) – UK Quad Poster, 1965 sold for £6,875 ($8,767)
SKYFALL (2012) – UK Multi-Quad Teaser Poster, 2012 sold for £3,125 ($3,978)
OCTOPUSSY (1983) – Japanese B1 Advance “Foil” Poster, 1983 sold for £812 ($1,030)
THUNDERBALL (1965) – UK Double-Crown “Aston Martin” Poster, 1965 sold for £3,437 ($4,376)
DR. NO (1962) – Linen-backed US Six-Sheet Poster, 1962 sold for £2,500 ($3,180)
THUNDERBALL (1965) – US Subway “Look Down!” Advance Poster, 1965 sold for £4,687 ($5,975)
VARIOUS PRODUCTIONS (1962-2002) – Swiss Swatch James Bond 40th Anniversary Presentation Leather Case, 2002 sold for £3,437 ($4,375)
The auction was suitable for fans with a variety of budgets and bids could be placed online from anywhere in the world, by phone or in person.
Stephen Lane, Prop Store CEO, commented on the auction: “This was a ground-breaking auction for us being the largest ever auction of James Bond posters anywhere in the world. We are hugely delighted with the breadth of international interest and expect this auction to be a real catalyst for three more blockbuster poster auctions in 2020”.
