Propstore’s Takamoto Foundation Online Charity Animation Auction

Propstore – one of the world’s leading Entertainment Memorabilia Auctioneers, has today announced the launch of the Takamoto Foundation Online Charity Animation Auction with over 140 rare, animation cels, drawings and other collectibles from the personal collection of famed Disney and Hanna-Barbera illustrator, Iwao Takamoto, that are expected to fetch in excess of $100,000.

The auction is open for bidding from today (7th March 2023) until the timed online-only auction begins to close from 9AM PDT on Tuesday 4th April 2023.
Iwao Takamoto was a one of the great animated film and television artists of 20th century. A 2nd generation Japanese-American, he grew up in the Los Angeles area during the World War 2 era and joined Disney after the war where he was responsible for designing “the Lady” in Lady and the Tramp. In the 1960’s, he became one of the chief animators at Hanna-Barbera, designing characters such as Scooby-Doo, Astro the Dog, the Great Gazoo, Penelope Pitstop and “the Spider” from Charlotte’s Web.
Although Iwao Takamoto passed away in 2007, the Takamoto Foundation is carrying forward Takamoto’s wish to give back by selling the art from his collection to benefit talented student artists at Ringling College. Proceeds from this auction will fund the Iwao Takamoto Scholarship at Ringling College, located in Sarasota, FL.
The online-only auction is suitable for fans with a variety of budgets and is now open for registration and bidding at propstore.com/takamoto.
