2026 Summer Propstore Auction Day One Achieves $7.2 Million

Propstore, one of the world’s leading entertainment memorabilia auction houses, has announced strong Day 1 results from its Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, held yesterday, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Los Angeles. A total of 296 rare and significant film and television lots were sold, achieving $7.2 million (£5.4 million), including buyer’s premium.
The screen-matched opening-scene mosquito in amber fossil from Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993) sold for $403,200 (£302,400), including buyer’s premium. The distinctive bubbling, positioning of the embedded mosquito, and patterning where the amber meets the surrounding rock screen-match the fossil seen in close-up during the Mano de Dios mine sequence. Offered publicly for the first time, the piece represents the scientific premise at the heart of the landmark film: extracting prehistoric DNA from mosquitoes preserved in amber to bring dinosaurs back to life.

Few objects capture the premise and enduring cultural impact of a film so immediately, and the response from collectors reflects the significance of this remarkable piece. With three more days and hundreds of incredible lots still to come, we are excited to see how the rest of the auction unfolds.”
