‘The Ultimate Batmobile Auction’ Opens For Bidding

Julien’s Auctions & Turner Classic Movies auction features the Iconic hero vehicle from Tim Burton’s 1992 blockbuster ‘Batman Returns’ and other Gotham treasures from ‘Batman’ to ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’
One of the most recognized and important cinematic vehicles in Hollywood history and for the first time ever, this screen used Batmobile operated by Michael Keaton in his iconic role as “Bruce Wayne / Batman” in Tim Burton’s 1992 groundbreaking blockbuster Batman Returns ushered in a new era of the modern superhero and a darker aesthetic for Gotham City that changed Batman and comic book blockbusters forever.

Measuring roughly nineteen feet and eight inches long, the Batmobile was custom built by the legendary automotive king Carl Casper based off the designs of Batman’s Academy Award-winning production designer Anton Furst and concept illustrator Julian Caldow. The striking super car features a custom fiberglass body on two Chevrolet Impala chassis, a radio-controlled flaming exhaust system, and its original glossy black paint.
Estimated at $5-$7 million, this historic movie-car offering is poised to challenge the record for the highest price ever achieved for a Batmobile at auction, previously set in 2013 by George Barris’ 1966 Batmobile at $4.6 million.
An original production-made Batman cowl from the film is also on offer, and adding to the excitement surrounding this once in a lifetime auction is the appearance of the original production-made screen-worn Batman cowl used by Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 epic that represented a new era of the Batman character, The Dark Knight.
‘Batman’ highlights announced include:
- Michael Keaton original Batman (1989) bat chest emblem with hand-painted yellow detailing.

- Jack Nicholson Joker props from Batman (1989) such as a Green Joker-branded gag box with vintage whoopee cushion and an unused foam latex smiling facial appliance.
